It’s been awhile since we had our last sit down with Blackie Jackett Jr. (Sept. 2016). An interview with this band is an experience to behold. They tell it like it is and the language is guaranteed to be colourful. Their personalities are infectious. They have come to be some of my favourite people to talk to.
During Canadian Music Week, I was invited to “The Outhouse”, the band’s clubhouse, where they self-produced and recorded their first album, For A Good Time Call, that was released on April 20, 2018. We had a great chat about the album, the writing of the songs and how it all came together.
The night before, Blackie Jackett Jr. opened the SIRIUS XM House show at The Phoenix Concert Theatre, with Lindsay Ell and headliner Kiefer Sutherland. It was an amazing show! BJJR really got the party started and the crowd engaged with several songs from the album. The highlight, for me, was an incredible version of “Jolene”, sung by Sandra Dee. If you get the chance to see this band live, do it!

Hello everyone! My name is Linda and I have been a fan of Canadian Music for as long as I can remember. That counts for way too many decades than I want to admit to! I have three primary passions in my life, music, photography and writing. When I can combine them all, I feel I am right where I should be. Though I can appreciate all genres of music, my particular favourite is Country. Canadian Country is moving in leaps and bounds. I love how it is progressing and I’m thankful that I can be a small part of it.
