Montreal’s Pouzza Fest takes place later this month from May 18-20 featuring some of the best punk music that’s out there! We’re happy that we’ve had the chance to count down to this festival with you. So far we’ve chatted with Lost Love, This Is A Standoff, Duotang, Blurry Eyes, Julius Sumner Miller, Wasted Potential, Obey the Brave, Copper Crown and now the countdown continues with Montreal’s BOIDS.
Pouzza Fest is an early festival, taking place in May, how do you prefer for festival season?
May long weekend in Montreal, what could be better? It’s a little risky weather-wise, but every year it’s beautiful. May good fortune shine upon Pouzza forever!
Have you taken part in Pouzza Fest before? If so, what is your favourite memory?
We’ve taken part many times, Montreal is our hometown and we won’t miss it if we’re here. My favourite memory is of the infamous fireworks Pouzza, we had hundreds of bottle rockets, black cats, and thunder snaps. Basically, we were exploding stuff non-stop for three days. At the end of it all we received an email from our record label saying that fireworks were forever banned from their office, we cried. We got tattoos to commemorate the chaos.
The line-up at Pouzza Fest this year is stellar, who are you most excited to check out?
Every year there are way too many bands to get stoked about, and this year is no different. Between all the bands that we know, with buds, through touring, through friends, and bands that we want to check out for the first time, that list would be longer than this whole interview. Check out the Pouzza app and see for yourself, it’s just ridiculous. So what I’m trying to say is, Chixdiggit!
Pouzza Fest’s name comes from the mashup of poutine and pizza, so I feel the need to know, which do you prefer?
Pizza will always be my first love. Poutine is a beautiful thing. Pouzza happens in your belly after you eat them both, separately.
Are you performing at any other festivals this summer that you’d like to tell us about?
So far we’re playing Exit Fest in Serbia, Mighty Sounds in Czech Republic with some euro dates spread around them… We’re heading to Florida for Fest in the fall! Very stoked for all of this.
What five words would you use to describe your live show?
Energetic, Dynamic, Gravitational, Spasmodic, supercalifragisexy!
If you were asked to give advice to an up and coming artist, what would that advice be?
Play everyday, write everyday, love yourself everyday.
What’s up next for you?
We’re recording a new album!!!! This fall we hit the studio for the first time as a trio. It’s going to be our best album ever ever ever.
