Calgary’s RALEIGH have released a video for their single, “Smoke In Our Eyes” which is from their latest LP, Powerhouse Bloom. The song was recorded at the Banff Centre for the Arts during the band’s participation in the indie music residency, curated by members of Broken Social Scene. The song features Brendan Canning on additional guitar, and backup vocals are performed by Toronto based Charlotte Cornfield.
The band states that the track was written for Casper, the house cat of 706 4A Street. He would hang in the jam space no matter how loud or smokey, and fall asleep right next to a guitar amp, or underneath Clea’s cello. This is not so much a song about the cat, but one the band thought he might like.
The video also features Clea’s niece self-learning karate and training for the ultimate showdown against her bedroom rival.
