Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey everyone The Northern consists of:

Mike Cutway – Vocals
Adam Linka – Drums/Vocals
Eric Leblanc – Guitar
Jordan Gallant – Guitar
Gordon Campbell – Bass

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

We would describe ourselves as a band that makes heavy music who draw our influence from Metalcore and Djent. We wanted to take the best of what we loved, and the excitement of what is new while adding in our own unique identity to shape it into what you hear as The Northern. Lyrically we focus on personal events and tribulations that are very close to us.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

We are very excited to embark on the “May The Force Be With You Tour” with Pangaea this May. It will be our first international tour crossing between Canada and America. As you may know there are a lot of hurdles a band must pass to get their P2 visas. So we are very excited to see that hard work pay off.

Our live performance is fast and heavy hitting. We are all best friends and you can feel the chemistry we have together in an engaging way. We want to leave our audience with the same passion and connect we have for music every time.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Absolutely our latest single “Samsara”.  It is most representative of our current goals and feelings put into music. We’re really excited about this direction and hope others will be too.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

We have quite a few favourites that it is hard to pick. Some most notable to us are:

The Glorious Sons, Protest the Hero, Intervals, The Parallel, Behaviour, Loyalist and Horcrux.
