Now that the Osheaga lineup has been released, people are getting excited and planning for the summer festival. Everyone already knows the main headliners (Travis Scott on Friday, Arctic Monkey on Saturday, and Florence and The Machine on Sunday), so we decided to shine some light on the smaller-font, bottom of lineup artists. There are definitely some gems in the afternoon performances that you will not want to miss! Here are our top picks:

FRIDAY

Essaies Pas

Composed of Marie Davidson and Pierre Guerineau, the Montreal-based electronic band Essaie Pas will be taking over the electro stage on Friday. We can hope that Osheaga will still have the bouncy, floating-on-water stage, which would make for an interesting place to enjoy their hypnotizing, dystopian sounds.

Alex Cameron

The pop, vintage vibes of Australian singer-songwriter Alex Cameron are just the perfect way to kick off Osheaga 2018. Just the music video for Runnin’ Outta Luck itself gives the promise of some interesting dancing and on-stage performance!

SATURDAY

John Jacob Magistery

After their performance at M for Montreal, and their more recent tour through the US, we will be looking forward to seeing the Montreal-based post-indie band and its charismatic lead singer perform with their usual emotional energy and vocals, laid on sounds of folk, soul, and hip-hop.

Loud

His last album, “Une année record” (ie. “a record-breaking year”), represents well 2017 for this Montreal-native rapper. After launching into a solo career early in the year, Loud made it to the top of Rap Québécois with 56K over the summer. If you want to experience a flawless flow, and some great franglais lyrics, you will definitely want to check out his set!

SUNDAY

The Brooks

After their electrifying performances at the past Montreal Jazz Festivals (opening for Charles Bradley, The Doobie Brothers, and Kool & The Gang), we will be looking forward to enjoying the funky, groovy vibes of The Brooks, a collective of top-level Montreal players.

Ponctuation

With their latest album, Mon Herbier du Monde Entier, launched at the beginning of March, the Montreal-based brothers Guillaume and Maxime Chiasson are guaranteed to rock the Osheaga crowd, to the sound of their psychedelic garage-rock tracks.

Osheaga 2018 will take place in Montreal from August 3rd to 5th. 3-day passes and 1-day passes are now available for sale: https://www.osheaga.com/
