Toronto based country music artist, Lennon Daniels has unveiled the lyric video for his newest single, “Break Free”. Daniels teamed up with award-winning producer, Douglas Romanow (Justin Bieber, Johnny Reid, Chantal Kreviazuk) to create the single. The song was co-written with Nashville based songwriter, Brian Donkers (Kari Lynch, Twin Kennedy, Alessia Cohle, Nicole Rayy) and recorded at Noble Street Studios (Shawn Mendes, The Weeknd, Drake, Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers) in Toronto.
The single is fun and infectious, and I can imagine how entertaining it would be live. I challenge you to just try and stop yourself from singing along with the chorus.
When asked about the single and lyric video, Lennon commented,
“Break Free is an upbeat, playful, melodic track with a 90’s feel to it. It’s a track I’m really proud of. I wanted something upbeat, different and a track that would really get people moving.
The lyric video is great. I feel it really catches the attention of the viewer. The neon type style with the lyrics definitely captures the feel and energy of the song. It flows beautifully and has a great summer buzz to it. “
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello everyone! My name is Lennon Daniels and I’m a country artist from Toronto.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
It’s a real mash-up lol. I’m influenced by so many artists so it’s hard to describe my writing style. I’m heavily influenced by southern rock and folk. I really like to write songs that have raw acoustic sound. But at the same time, there’s nothing like big loud guitars and tones, just like you’ll hear in my new track, Break Free.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I sure do. I’ll be at the Market Brewery in Newmarket, Ontario on 19 May and the following week at the Lake Simcoe Arms in Sutton, Ontario on 25 May. I’m doing acoustic shows at the moment. The reason for this is to really engage with the audience and make it more intimate. That being said, we still enjoy rocking out with a good balance of country rock and some folky kind of stuff. I also love taking covers and making them my own.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
My new single Break Free is definitely one. It’s such a fun, upbeat track with tons of great hooks and melody. I had a blast writing and recording it. It’s a great summer tune and has a real 90’s kind of feel to it which I feel everyone will enjoy.
