Five Questions With Zach Zoya

Montreal based hip-hop artist, Zach Zoya has recently released a video for his single, “Superficial” which premiered on Exclaim earlier this month. We had a chance to speak with Zach for our newest segment of Five Questions With, so check that out below, as well as his video! Enjoy!

Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

My name is Zach Zoya. I am a 19-year-old rapper/singer/songwriter from Rouyn-Noranda but currently based in Montreal.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

My music is a mix of hip-hop and RnB. Most of the time, I try to focus on melodies and the general vibe rather than the actual words. Music that makes you feel something, you know?

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

I’m on the road as right now! I still have shows in Sherbrooke, Laval, Quebec City and Montreal in that order. Apart from that, I got shows coming up in the springtime around the Montreal area, so stay tuned! My live performances are wild. Super fun, good vibes, so you can expect a whole lot of jumping around!

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

If I was to suggest one of my tracks, it would be “Superficial”, for sure. I love the vibe that track has. That being said, I have so much dope music coming up that it doesn’t really matter, so keep it locked!!!

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

I’d have to say Drake, The Weeknd, PartyNextDoor, Nate Husser, Kaytranada, High Klassified, I could go on. Those are just a few, honestly. There are so many great Canadian artists out there right now that’s it’s hard to pick just a few!
