The Halifax Jazz Festival has recently announced the entertainment for their 15th annual holiday fundraiser for music education. The shows will take place on December 10th at the Spatz Theatre in Halifax.
At 2 pm, there will be a performance of “Tales of a Charlie Brown Christmas” with the Jerry Granelli Trio. Jerry Granelli was a member of the Vince Guaraldi Trio when they did the original contemporary jazz recordings for A Charlie Brown Christmas, which debuted in 1965! Sacred Heart Elementary School Choir will be joining the Trio for this performance. This show is a definite must-see this December, and tickets can be bought here —$40 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.
The all-new evening show, “Swing Into the Holidays,” will begin at 7pm, and is produced by acclaimed jazz percussionist Artie Irwin. This show will feature seasonal music from jazz bands including The Tuesday Night Band, Kitty & the Katz, Georges Hebert & Standard Time, and The Black Alley Big Band ft. Doris Mason. Tickets for this show are $45 and available here.
Go enjoy some great holiday jazz music while supporting music education!
I’m Shayla, and I was born in Saskatoon but moved to Halifax in 2013 for University, and since decided to stay here for a while. I recently received a Bachelor of Design, after studying photography for a year or two as well. I love everything about music and how it has the ability to bring so many people together from across the country and even the world. My passion for music is one of the reasons I moved East to pursue a photography and design career, as I would love to do graphic design and photography within the Canadian music industry.
