Review – Mark Times

EP: Mark Times
Release Date: November 3, 2017
Genre: Country/ Folk

Hailing from the small town of Stony Plain, Alberta and playing in bars since he was seventeen, Mark Times is a songsmith at work. Mixing time-tested sounds with lyrics distilled from everyday life, his folk-country blend is garnering attention across the Canadian music scene.

Mark has recently released his four-track self-titled EP. All the tracks were very enjoyable to listen to. They all had a very old home country sound, some songs being more upbeat and some more mellow. I really enjoyed listening to this album, it is one of the greatest parts of writing these reviews is hearing music and discovering new artists I would never have before.

“Honkytonk Wishing Well” was one of my favourite songs on the album, it reminded me of an old school fun break up love song. I think most listeners would really love this one.

Mark has brought his neo-traditional country to stages from coast to coast, including performances at Country Thunder in Calgary to Country Music Week in Halifax and London. Times is really making his way through Canada on the country scene and is a name we should not forget, as we will see him in the future of Country.

Check out Mark’s recent video release on YouTube, you won’t be disappointed.
