We took some time to speak with progressive hardcore band, The Parallel for our newest segment of Five Questions With. You can check out their video for their new single, “Time Tunnel” below and take a few moments out of your day to learn more about this Canadian band.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey! We’re The Parallel from Toronto, Ontario and we’ve been around for a couple years playing some heavy and technical progressive metalcore!
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
Heavy, dissonant, chaotic and technical. That best describes our music. We are constantly pushing ourselves to make challenging material that is both technically proficient but still pleasing to the listener.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
Unfortunately, we have nothing lined up in the immediate future! We have been focusing recently on writing new songs, preparing to hit the studio in the winter for our next release. In regards to our live performance, we pride ourselves on matching the chaotic nature of our music and coupling that with a high-energy live performance. Lots of energy, lots of fun.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
That’s an easy one! Check out our latest single, “Time Tunnel” above.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
Canada has some of the best metal and progressive acts right now, in our opinion! Some of our favourites include; Auras, Intervals, The Northern, The Afterimage and many more!
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
