Incredible artist LeRiche brings to life his new single “River Runs”. It is the second single following his springtime release, Under Covers. This independent alternative singer-songwriter hails from the east coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. Now it’s your chance to find out more about him!

First off, care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello readers! I am LeRiche, a solo artist/musician from a small town in Newfoundland called Port aux Basques.

Hailing from Newfoundland & Labrador do you find it challenging to promote your music and reach out to new fans?

Yes, but I did that before the rise of the internet! Social media seems to me to be the veins that the blood of our culture travels through. With the internet of everything, it isn’t as difficult to reach new fans and listeners as it used to be. That being said, living on a fairly remote island does have its share of challenges. I have been recently touring and playing a few select shows at different venues around the globe, but it’s not easy to get off this rock.

At what age did you decide you wanted to pursue you a career in music? And was there anybody in particular that inspired you?

I think I always knew what it was I wanted to do with my life, but a clear thought rings through from when I was about 15. My friends and I were in a band and they were all talking about how they wished to peruse their post-secondary education. Two of my bandmates swayed me towards a particular music program that I eventually graduated from. At the time I couldn’t believe such a thing existed so close to home, in the next biggest town. Needless to say, I was dead set on it soon as I discovered its existence. I don’t think there was any one person in particular that inspired me. I think it was a whole world of people who loved music as much as I did. From friends and family to stars and strangers.

What can you tell us about your new single, “River Runs”?

It’s a tune co-written by Nate Ferraro, Ben Nudds and myself. It’s about a flood of emotions that takes you away when you run into a person you have a dense history with. It all comes rushing back. Be it an old friend or a lover from your past, when you cross paths you suddenly realize how deep the river runs.

You will be performing in Toronto on October 20 in anticipation of your new EP, X-Dreamer, for those of us that have yet to see you perform live, what can someone expect from your performance?

An honest man telling you a story. Singing his face off. Playing the guitar relentlessly. Whether in a solo setting or with a band, it’s always the truth.

Have there been any places that you have performed that you see as a milestone in your career? Perhaps something you have set as a goal?

I was able to make it across the pond this year to play my first official gig in another country, which was definitely a huge goal I had set for myself probably when I was 10 years old. I would love to travel more to different countries and cultures to share my music and hear theirs.

If you were asked to describe your music in one sentence, what would that sentence be?

Smooth melodies and kind lyrics wrapped in harmony over warm eclectic instrumentation.

Who are a few of the Canadian artists that you have on your playlist currently?

City and Colour
Big Wreck
Hey Rosetta

Are there any Canadian artists that you hope to work with?

I would love to work in any capacity with Afie from Bahamas and/or Dallas Green of City and Colour

What’s up next for you?

We are currently ramping up towards the release of the X-Dreamer EP. So there will be a couple more singles and some videos to follow and of course the official release of the full EP soon. But the next record has already been in the works for years. I’m beyond excited to get back in the studio and pump out some new jams. But first, I’ll be doing some touring in support of X-Dreamer.

Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

Thank you all so much for your continuous support and kind words! It’s your love that gives me the inspiration and carries me along this journey to create and share my music and words. Thank you thank you thank you all 🙂 and a special thank you goes to Canadian Beats for featuring me!!
