Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hey, folks! We’re The Lost Angelos and we’re a rock band from Hamilton, Ontario.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

We like to think of ourselves as four down to earth guys that are really passionate about music. All of us come from pretty diverse musical backgrounds, but we’ve really found an identity in the music of our parent’s generation (and earlier). We’d be remiss not to tip our hats to some of the greats like The Band, Neil Young and The Tragically Hip for their influence on us. I suppose this is how we developed a knack for writing “really Canadian tunes”, as our friends put it. What can we say, we are proud to be Canadian.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

Yes, we’ll be playing in Hamilton on September 4th at This Ain’t Hollywood! I think we pour a lot of energy and soul into our live performances. Through many hours practicing together, we’ve developed a pretty strong sense of camaraderie. We are very comfortable playing together so sometimes we’ll improv and jam on our songs, but we like to keep things tight and structured too. For the last little while, we’ve been calling our friends and audience members up on stage to jam with us (usually on The Band’s “The Weight”), which is always a blast!

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

Hmm, “Lately” seems to be the fan favourite so we’ll go with that.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?

Canadian music is the best music (sorry to our friends in the States and Max’s family in Ukraine). We are big fans of groups like The Sheepdogs, Monster Truck, July Talk, Mac Demarco, Glorious Sons, Arcade Fire, etc. We also really enjoy the music our hometown friends in Delta Days, The Redhill Valleys and Run Maggie Run are making.
