Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hello, we are Devin, Matty, Grady & Garth. We are waves against sandy shores, beer cans tinkling through dusky alleys, rocket ships leaving the atmosphere, reefer madness, the sound of a butterfly flitting through sunlit meadows amplified a thousand times. We are Reef Shark.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

Reef Shark has become a dark monster composite of all of lead singer/guitarist Devin’s qualms, fears, and desires with little sugar coating. Matty writes puzzle-piece guitar parts that answer the anxieties with woozy bends and razor-sharp rhythms. Grady & Garth create an ominous and pounding rhythm section that is as tight as it is complex. It all draws equally from post-punk, shoegaze, and 90’s indie rock. We have 2 previous releases (‘Better Weather’ [2014] and ‘Mind Race’ [2015]), with our 3rd upcoming release, ‘World in Space’, slated for July 29th, 2017 via Big Smoke.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

July 29 – The Cobalt (Vancouver)

Live performance: explosive, loud, high-energy, unrelenting, sweaty, guitarry, bassy, drummy, synthy.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

World in Space
