Survey says… Musicians weigh in on their favourite festival foods

Feast Fest is one of the many festivals taking place across Canada this summer that is celebrating Canadians’ love for both good food and drinks and of course, great music.  This weekend, Feast Fest is invading Harbourside Park in Midland, ON.  It has already been to Sudbury a month ago and will make a stop in London on September 22 – 24. “We have 10 food vendors providing a wide array of different food options. There’s certainly something for everyone.”, says festival organizer, Paul Fairley of Admiral Live.  Feast Fest is FREE for all-ages until 8 p.m., when it then switches over to the evening entertainment for the 19+ crowd.  Canadian rockers, Honeymoon Suite are headlining the Saturday night show at each of the three locations.  In Midland, they will be joined by AC/DC tribute band, Hells Bells and local rockers, From The Ruins.  Coming up tomorrow night Bobby Wills is the Friday night headlining act along with Kansas Stone and Matt Morson as supporting acts.  For a complete list of musical acts all weekend long, check out the festival Facebook page.

We thought it might be fun to ask some of the artists performing this weekend in Midland what their favourite foods to eat at a fair or festival might be.  After the results came in it can clearly be seen that our musical friends have varied tastes but many tried and true festival classics are crowd favourites.

The Noolands

Perform at 4 p.m. on Saturday

Brandon from The Noolands took the time to provide the intimate details about the eating habits of their band mates:

James – He’ll want a burger or anything pulled pork related on a sturdy bun. The man is a stickler for a structurally sound burger. If it looks too risky he may go straight for desert. I’ve seen him get messy though…
Jon – This dudes a bit of a hot dog snob so he will probably ask for “their finest wiener with kettle chips” and probably ask for some overly complex topping. He’ll definitely want a beer too.
Aaron – This guy is honestly all over the map with his food choices, a true culinary wildcard. If you’re doing any food-related investigative reporting I’d keep an eye on this dude. He’ll definitely have some pints too.

Brandon – I’m the guy that wants to fit in so I look around and quickly assess what the “go-to” item is and from what vendor. I may even do some pre-meal research. For me, simpler the better. Some hot meat on a bun will do.

Rue Bella
Perform at 4 p.m. on Sunday

Taylor – Poutine and cotton candy (who doesn’t LOVE cotton candy??)

That Party Band
Perform at 6 p.m. on Friday and 7 p.m. on Sunday

Kat – Light and farm fresh foods from local vendors
Junior – Raddlers in the a.m., Budweiser all day and Caesars on Sunday (this man knows what he likes!)

Perform at 4 p.m. on Friday

Heydon – Blooming onion (with regrets later about this delicious festival treat)
Cory – Poutine and more poutine (clearly we have a winner!)
Phil – A sucker for candy apples, but also enjoys samosas and anything that looks interesting (Phil is a self-identifying foodie)

From The Ruins
Perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday

Julien  – Chicken and ribs
Dave – Anything Indian, or burgers
Ryan  – Tiny Tom doughnuts, corn dogs, Crispy Creme doughnut burgers (We think Ryan has been to a festival or two before!)

Crown Lands
Perform at 5 p.m. on Sunday

Kevin – Falafels and veggie burgers
Cody – Burritos

Kansas Stone
Perform at 9 p.m. on Friday

Brian – Anything beef, especially burgers.  Mmmmm mmmmmm good!
Matt – Funnel cake and pulled pork sandwiches (We would not want to try eating those both in one sitting… Have you tried them together, Matt?)

Matt Morson
Performs at 8 p.m. on Friday

Matt likes anything “on the grill”, but ribs and BBQ chicken top his list!
