From The Ruins, a heavy alternative rock band from Barrie, ON, have been raising the bar in their local scene for quite some time. More recent shows have seen them opening for acts such as Big Wreck and Platinum Blonde, but they also put on one hell of a killer Guns N’ Roses tribute. You can catch up on their show with Big Wreck, here. Next week they will be opening for Canadian favourites, Honeymoon Suite at Feast Fest in Midland, a great summer music and food festival put on by Admiral Live. There is a lot of buzz about this band locally and we can’t wait to see what they get up to next!
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hello, I’m Julien Michaud, lead singer of From The Ruins.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
1. Jazz Cartier – His performance on stage and connection with the audience is paving a new path for Canadians. I would love to work with him some day!
2. Brett Kissel – Classy Canadian with a great live show and a great family to boot!
3. Crown Lands – I love seeing local talent receiving so much great reception in the indie rock scene. These guys slay on stage and have some of the best ears in the business.
I’m Nicole, a biology teacher by day, but my life revolves around music. I’m that girl that you will always find with the concert t-shirt on and ear buds in. It is rare that you find me without some type of music playing in the background. I connect all of my life experiences to music. It truly has its own language in my heart. There is nothing more exciting than taking in all that a concert has to offer. I love to support local Canadian acts and attend as many shows that I can.
