Who: Twin Bandit, Daniel Lanois
Where: The Commodore Ballroom
When: July 5 2017
Genre: Rock/Alt Rock/Ambient
Hannah Walker and Jamie Elliot of Twin Bandit opened up the show on Wednesday night and they were introduced by Daniel Lanois as his friends from Vancouver. These two ladies were outstanding! Such beautiful music they’ve created together and voices in perfect harmony. We were treated to just over half an hour of the openers then it was time for Daniel Lanois to hit the stage. Daniel is not only a well respected musician and songwriter, he’s also worked with and produced for some of the most well known artists and bands in the world. U2, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young to name a few. Daniel likes to treat his audience to a variety of sounds and styles during his shows, sometimes it’s folksy rock and roll, sometimes hard rocking pedal steel driven ballads, and then sometimes he morphs things into this crazy ambient universe with hard pounding bass and spaced out sounds that just seem to work together. Everybody at the Commodore left with big smiles on their faces that night.
