From July 7-9 in Cavendish, PEI country music fans will be in their glory as they attend Cavendish Beach Music Festival, which as usual features some incredible country music talent. As we’ve done in past years, we are counting down to the big weekend in the form of interviews with some of the Canadian performers! Our first interview featured the lovely Jessica Mitchell, then the guys from Johnson Crook! Today, we are featuring country sweetheart, Madeline Merlo. Enjoy!
First off, care to introduce yourself to the Canadian Beats readers?
My name is Madeline Merlo and I am a Country Music artist from Maple Ridge, BC
Cavendish Beach Music Festival is one of the biggest Country festivals around, how does it feel to be a part of this event?
It feels really special to be a part of Cavendish this year. This festival has been on my bucket list for a while and I am so excited to hopefully make some new fans over on the East Coast.
You are one of many extremely talented artists on the lineup for Cavendish Beach Music Festival, who are you most excited to check out at the festival?
I am really excited to check out Little Big Town and Zac Brown Band.
Are you performing at any other festivals this summer that you’d like to tell us about?
I’ve got a few really awesome shows this summer. Really looking forward to heading back to Vancouver Island for Sunfest and playing BVJ for the first time!
Describe your live show using only 5 words.
Colourful, Energetic, Passionate, Fun, Musical.
If you were asked to give an up and coming Canadian artist some advice, what would that advice be?
I think my best piece of advice for anyone coming up in this industry is to remember to have a voice and stick to your guns. Make sure you are making and releasing music that is true to you. Take care of the music and the music will take care of you.
In honour of Canada’s 150th, who are you favourite Canadian artists/ bands?
Shania Twain, Shawn Mendez and Blue Rodeo
What’s up next for you?
Looking forward to a busy summer of shows and then heading to Nashville to write some new music.
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
