Following a week of exciting curated show club series, NXNE 2017 took over the Port Lands once again for a weekend full of music, food, and carnival rides. Some of our highlights include Blajk delivering a killer performance despite the lead singer having an injured leg, K.I.D. spreading the love, and Heartstreets bringing the energy to the main stage on Day Two. On Day Three we had a blast grooving along to Yukon Blonde‘s punchy pop tunes and Taleb Kweli + The Soul Rebels jazzy fusion. Lizzo really brought the party when she brought members of the crowd on stage to dance with her, and Passion Pit closed the night with a lively, unforgettable set.
The Franklin Electric:
Taleb Kweli & The Soul Rebels:
I’ve been involved in music my whole life and have developed a passion for helping out or working in the industry any way I can. I’m interested in helping talented artists gain the recognition they deserve in this crazy business. I am currently studying Communication Studies at York University in Toronto, and working at a local theatre doing marketing and communications, as well as helping out a local festival called Rock the Coliseum. Indie, alt-rock/pop, and metal are my favourites but I’m open to all music genres! If I’m not at a show, I’m doing yoga, grabbing coffee, or looking for some craft beer.
