French-Canadian artist, Dominique Gorley released a new video for her single, “Answer” last month and we spoke to her a bit for our newest segment of Five Questions With. Enjoy!
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
My name is Dominique Gorley, I am an RnB singer/ songwriter, born and raised in Ottawa. I am pretty hard headed and try to always follow my heart. Every day, I am determined to prove to the world that there is no such thing as a “perfect figure” or a definition to beauty. I want to give the courage and help the youth in building their confidence to be themselves, and to find their own uniqueness and inner beauty.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
I always catch myself at the studio when life gets to me, whether I’m going though hard times or good times. My first album “Deranged State of Mind” is mostly about heartbreaks. It’s hard for me to talk about that subject, but somehow, I find it relieving to write and sing about it and share my stories with strangers. My latest album which just recently came out on May 31st entitled “Impress” is a bit more uplifting mixed with heartbreaks and self love messages. The main song of the album called “Impress”, talks about the negative that we all receive on a daily from this world and this society.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I just booked a gig on July 22, Soul City Music Fest @ Noon-9pm, 52 Bayview rd Laroche Park. Its a free event, and kids are welcome! Please follow my Facebook and Instagram page as I will be announcing some dates for this summer!!
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Well, that’s a hard question…I would pick “I Gotchu” from “Deranged State of Mind”. There is a video on my YouTube channel as well 🙂

I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
