Care to introduce yourself to our readers?

Hi my name is Leo Vance, I am 21 years old from Toronto, Canada. I have to give a shout out to Detroit, as I spent a lot of my childhood there where my father was born and raised. I grew up in music as both my parents were in music, so the support in my career has always been there. I started my music journey at the age of 13, writing, arranging and producing my sound which carried out through my teen years.  Some would say I am an old soul, and I draw most of my inspirations from the old Motown sound, to the 80’s genre, old and new hip-hop to classical music and r&b. Music is my life.

Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.

My music is inspirational designed to change the generation. I want to show people that they can do anything they aspire too. That no matter what life throws at them that they can persevere with hard work and dedication.  My writing style is kin to a novelist, I like to tell the stories of my life and other people’s lives and wrap it in a package that is relatable to the masses.

Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?

Yes, I will be performing at Youth Day Global this year, which is a very important, and personal performance for me as it will be for the youth. With each performance my vision is becoming more clear on how I would like the audience to receive me and what I want to give back. Being on stage is where I feel most comfortable and the most powerful. Knowing there is a responsibility I must bring each and every time.

If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?

“Penthouse”. It is the song that represents the end of my journey that all the songs on my album lead up too. It’s a song about celebration, a representation of making it past all the challenges and struggles one may face in their life.

Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favorite Canadian bands/ artists?

My favorite Canadian artists are Drake, The Weekend, Divine Brown, and Tory Lanez
