Calgary, AB based country artist, Mike LeBlanc releases a video for his single, “Rich Man Poor Man” today, so it only made sense to have a little chat with him in the form of our Five Questions With segment. Find out a bit more about him and of course check out his brand new video.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
My music is a mixture of country, southern rock, and hillbilly with a touch of outlaw all written in simple ways through inspiration. I write in a way of wording to the point of meaning and hope to make a positive impact on people’s life. If with my music, I can make only one person feels better, I’ve achieved my goal.
Do you have any upcoming shows?
My team and I are currently working on a series of shows called “On route to Saskatoon” which you’ll see me sharing the stage with other CCMA artists, my management team MJL Entertainment will record some interviews to share on social media. It’s a very cool project and I can’t wait to be on the road. Dates and cities to be announced soon. All details on my website MikeLeBlancMusic.com
For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
I mix energetic, toe tappin’ Country grooves with some smoother moments. My thing is exchange of energy between the audience and me, by connecting with them. Over the years, I played in many provinces and been on many stages. It’s one of my favourite places. I have an ability to connect with my audience, to feel people and I like to make them feel special, because they are. My stage presence brings my crowd tapping, dancing and screaming “Hell yeah”
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs to someone to hear, which would it be?
“Rich Man Poor Man”, cause I think so far it’s the best work we’ve done. It’s the best written song I’ve done so far, I think and I’m excited about it. It’s probably the song that represents the most “Mike LeBlanc’s music”
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian Music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/artists?
Dean Brody, he’s such a storyteller. Basically for who he is, a down to earth person and for the music he writes.
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
