Review – Hunter Brothers

Album: Getaway
Release Date: March 3, 2017
Genre: Country

February and March: Great months for Canadian country music artists Luke, J.J., Ty, Brock and Dusty – also known as the Hunter Brothers. Their premiere album Getaway drops digitally March 3 and the CD is released in stores on March 17. Their latest single “Getaway” was released digitally and to country radio on February 17. The video debuted on CMT Canada also on the same day.

The Hunter Brothers never fail to impress. Their smooth harmonies, their effervescent approach to singing, their passion for life and music is very special. Getaway is absolutely incredible. The album is full of fun and upbeat relationship-type songs, of life and love in a small town, of growing up on the prairies. This is the album that will bring you out of your winter doldrums and brighten your day like the first wash of colour on a spring day.

High Valley was very helpful in the development of this album. A number of the songs were co-written by Brad Rempel and the duo joins in with the Hunter Brothers on what is my favourite song, “Country Stuff.” I immediately knew this would be one of my favourites – it’s high energy; it’s the type of song that makes you want to dance, whether you’re on a dance floor, in your chair, even in your car!

“Getaway,” a tune that the brothers were incredibly excited to release is about being stuck in a Canadian winter and needing an escape from those wintertime blues. With its playful, summertime feeling and by being with the one you love, you’ll get that final lift you need to get you through the last stretch of winter. It’s great to see “El Dorado” and “Long Way To Love You” on this album too. These are two previously released singles that launched their career in Canadian country music.

What does this very special album mean to the Hunter Brothers? Ty answers that question.

“We could not be more thrilled to release our debut album Getaway. There has been a tremendous amount of thought, effort and creativity poured into this record, and it has definitely been a team endeavour. It still seems surreal that we have the opportunity to work with the label, management and production team that we do, and we can’t wait to share the finished product with everyone. This album is a reflection of what matters to us as brothers-relationships, knowing where you came from, and appreciating life for the adventure that it is. We truly hope all of you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it!”

I believe that the Hunter Brothers put their best foot forward with Getaway and made their dreams come true. After listening to this album, you will want to add it to your playlist.
