MusiCounts began in 1997 and is associated with the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (More commonly known as the producers of the JUNO Awards). It began out of the need for support for music education in Canada. As music programs have their budgets cut all too often, MusiCounts is there to fill the void. Schools, and now community programs, get the instruments they desperately need to make sure all kids, especially those that need them most, get access to music in their lives. NHL Greats go head to head against musicians for 14th annual JUNO Cup presented by TD, in support of MusiCounts.
JUNO Cup Presented by TD features former NHL Greats Daniel Alfredsson, Paul Coffey, Chris Phillips and Gary Roberts, and artists Jim Cuddy (Blue Rodeo), Sam Roberts, Gord Bamford, Jon Gallant (Billy Talent), Kathleen Edwards and Darryl James (The Strumbellas)

I shoot live music performances and concerts. I love the excitement of entering a venue, knowing that I’ll be photographing a concert and enjoying the energy of the crowd. There’s nothing like being in a venue and looking at the expressions on the faces of people who are all transfixed by the talent onstage. I shoot about 120 shows each year, averaging 2 bands per show, as well as several all-day and weekend festivals in and around Southern Ontario. From the large venues to very small ones, bright lights or barely lit stages, I hope that my photos capture the enjoyment the artists have in doing what they love to do.
