Tim Hicks’ Shake These Walls Tour made a stop at the Sudbury Community Arena January 22, 2017. Even though it was a Sunday night, the Sudbury attendees were ready to party the night away. Hicks’ special guests on the Ontario leg of the tour was River Town Saints and Jason Blaine.
My afternoon was suppose to start with an On The Spot interview with River Town Saints (RTS). Before that got underway, the boys had to go do a rehearsal of their latest single, “Bonfire”, for the good people of CMT, who would be filming that song live during the show for the band’s next video. It sounded fantastic! While I was taking a peak, Jason Blaine was watching for a minute before returning to his dressing room. We had a quick chat and snapped a selfie.
The interview with RTS was hilarious! I swear I should have worn Depends. Be sure to check it out here.
I participated in Tim Hicks’ Meet & Greet a few hours later. I’d estimate there were about 40 people in attendance. Tim came in with two of his band, Graham Mallany and Chris Altmann. We were treated to a couple of songs, a cover of “The Gambler” and a beautiful song Tim wrote for his daughter called “Anna Lee”. A quick photo op and we were on on way.
River Town Saints did a great job getting the crowd going with “A Little Bit Goes A Long Way”, “Cherry Bomb” and more. When CMT began to roll for “Bonfire” everyone turned it up a little louder and the band gave a stellar performance. Looking forward to seeing the final cut of this video!
Up next, Jason Blaine delighted the audience with many of his hits like “Friends Of Mine” and the heart-felt “They Don’t Make ‘Em Like That Anymore”. Jason also tried out a new song called “Ain’t Got Growing Up Down Yet“ which received tremendous applause.
By now, the fans were well warmed up and ready for the man of the hour, Tim Hicks! What better way for him to start his set than with the title track of his latest album, and the name of the tour, “Shake These Walls”. I think more than the walls were shaking! As Hicks and his band performed song after song, they were blowing the roof off – “Slow Burn”, “Hell Raisin’ Good Time”, “Stompin’ Ground” – The hits kept on coming! During “Got a Feeling”, Jason Blaine came out to lend his voice to the tune. The night wrapped up with “Here Comes The Thunder” before being called back for a two-song encore. Of course, one had to be “Stronger Beer” and the second, from the current CD, “Forever Rebels”. This song needs to be a single!
This power house of acts, all from Ontario, was all the crowd could hope for and more.

Hello everyone! My name is Linda and I have been a fan of Canadian Music for as long as I can remember. That counts for way too many decades than I want to admit to! I have three primary passions in my life, music, photography and writing. When I can combine them all, I feel I am right where I should be. Though I can appreciate all genres of music, my particular favourite is Country. Canadian Country is moving in leaps and bounds. I love how it is progressing and I’m thankful that I can be a small part of it.
