Artist- Lowell and Dragonette
Venue- Gateway Sait, Calgary
Date- Nov.19th 2016<
I always love going to shows at The Gateway Bar on the Sait campus in Calgary. This time it was to catch Calgary born, Toronto based Lowell as well as Canadian favourite Dragonette.
Lowell is a unique talent with a voice that will blow you off your feet. Singing her songs like “Blow the Bass” and “I Love You More Than Money”. Lowell knows how to work the stage and then some, leaving it at one point to sing and dance with fans in the middle of the audience floor. She got the fans excited and the party started.
Dragonette are the platinum Canadian band behind the mega hits “Hello” and “Let It Go”. Fans had been anxiously awaiting, what was bound to be a great show. Dragonette put on a show full of coloured lights and lead singer Martina Sorbara’s killer vocals and energetic dance moves. Dragonette performed songs off their recently released LP “Royal Blues” as well as favourites from previous years. “Royal Blues” is their first release since the release of “Bodyparts” in 2012. Fans have been patiently waiting for the release, and even more so for the tour, so no one left unhappy.
Dragonette still have two shows left on this side of the boarder with Lowell I’m Vancouver tonight and Victoria tomorrow, so make sure to grab yourself a ticket if you’re in the area. After that Dragonette heads south for some American tour dates. “Royal Blues” is available on iTunes so check it out!

I’m Heather Young. I am 29 years old and from Calgary. I’m the mother of a 6 year old boy and I work with children as a developmental assistant. I have always had a passion for writing and music so working for Canadian Beats is right up my alley. I love every genre of music as long as it catches my attention, it’s on my playlist, from rap to country. When I’m not working or writing I love to spend time outside with my son playing games or going for walks.
