Review – LeBarons

EP: Alliston
Release date: October 11, 2016
Genre – Alt Country

Toronto based alternative country band LeBarons are fresh off the independent release of their debut EP,  Alliston. The six track EP includes five brand new tracks and “Trains”, a song previously released on a limited edition 7″ in 2015. With production of Alliston done by Cone McCaslin (The Strumbellas, Sun K, Sum 41) and John Dinsmore (NQ Arbuckle, Kathleen Edwards, Donovan Woods) the EP was bound for greatness.

Alliston opens with tracks “Think of You” and “The Brave” both produced by John Dinsmore. The tracks are a beautiful introduction to Alliston showing listeners what Lebarons are made of. “Trains”, “Oh California” and “I’ll Come Back” all produced by Cone MaCaslin are more upbeat and make you want to tap your feet and maybe even get your dancing shoes on. “Freightliner” is a beautiful conclusion with its vocal harmonies and captivating instrumental ending. Alliston is an emotionally complex release detailing lead vocalist Chris MacDonald’s childhood and family. It’s the perfect mix of deep emotion and upbeat fun. The album has the old country feel with just enough modernized tones to make it new and completely relevant. This release is available on Bandcamp and all major online retailers.
