We are happy to present you with our brand new Five Questions With, this time featuring Victoria, BC based, Sam Weber.
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Hey Canadian Beats readers, my name is Sam Weber. I love to play songs I write and tour with my band.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style:
Our music is rooted heavy in the songwriting and I love writing songs in different styles. Right now I’m really into writers like Jackson Brown and Warren Zevon. We’re really influenced by music and songwriting from that era.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
We have lots of shows coming up and they’re listed on our website. because right now we’re on tour from Victoria, BC to Toronto and back. Our live performance would be described as pretty traditional rock and roll, rooted in musicianship – but it all counts on the songwriting and arrangements to carry the tunes. We’re not big on using effects or tricks live we like to just play.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
The next one I write. Haha. I like people to be current on what I’m writing because I think it’s getting better all the time and gives a more current impression of where I’m at. I am proud of our catalogue though and if I had to suggest one for someone to check out it would be our newest Charlotte. It’s the best tune on our new record Valentina Nevads.
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
Fox Glove, Ella Coyes and Jasper Smith, Chloë Dolores are all awesome new Canadian artists that are worth some dedicated listening.
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
