Winnipeg, MB based band, Iansucks recently released their album, Don’t Give In To the Bad Feelings on October 6, 2016. We were able to conduct a Five Questions With with the band, enjoy!
Care to introduce yourself to our readers?
Iansucks is a four piece art pop band from Winnipeg. We are Emma, Kelly, Adam and Ian, and we are all sleepy heads.
Tell us a bit about your music and writing style.
Our music is confessional. We try to deal with our failings, concerns and bitter feelings and turn them into happy little pop songs.
Our songwriting process usually goes something like this: something bad happens to either Emma or Ian, and they proceed write something sad about. They then bring it to the rest of the band, who transform it into something groovy that you can shake your butt along to.
Do you have any upcoming shows? For someone who has yet to see you live, how would you explain your live performance?
We’re just capping off a tour through Ontario, and hopefully planning something westward. We do have several currently secret shows in Winnipeg coming up 🙂 Our live show is laid back and chill. We like to keep a range of songs uptempo and down, quiet and loud songs in the set. We are synthy and guitary and singy and bassy and drumsy.
If you were asked to suggest only one of your songs for someone to hear, which would it be?
Ummmm maybe Too Hard because sometimes things feel too hard. ♡
Canadian Beats is all about Canadian music, so who are your current favourite Canadian bands/ artists?
Collectively, we chose 4. They are, in no particular order: Mulligrub, Leonard Cohen, Human Music, and Future States.
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
