Artist: Paper Lions, Raven, Featurette
Venue: Mod Club, Toronto
Genre: Indie Pop/Rock
When: October 15, 2016
PEI based indie rockers Paper Lions released their album Full Colour last month and brought the party to Toronto to celebrate during their Full Colour Release Tour. Supporting the band was Toronto based electro pop powerhouse Featurette and indie rock darling Raven.
Featurette kicked things off with an electrifying performance that had everyone dancing throughout their whole set. Having just released their debut LP Crave, the duo proved that they’re a band to keep your eye on. Featurette is the type of group with so much energy and power that you can’t help but be pulled into their show. They bring it all on stage, and leave the crowd captivated.
Raven hit the stage next to play a dynamic show featuring her strength as a musician. From catchy indie pop tunes and edgy rock numbers to soft spoken ballads, Raven’s set had a little bit of everything. Her bluesy vocals and charismatic on-stage personality really shone through to put on an amazing show.
By the time Paper Lions began their set, the crowd was buzzing with excitement and I quickly learned there’s no show like a Paper Lions show. Aside from the fact that their infectious indie rock tunes will have you jamming and singing along in no time, the band’s interaction with their fans was truly a heartwarming thing to witness.
The highlight of the show was towards the middle of the set. After several upbeat party numbers, the band walked into the crowd to play a stripped down acoustic rendition of “Polly Hill” with their fans. Starting a massive sing along and showcasing their raw talent as vocalists and songwriters, it was a peaceful moment in the middle of an exhilarating, fast-paced show.

I’ve been involved in music my whole life and have developed a passion for helping out or working in the industry any way I can. I’m interested in helping talented artists gain the recognition they deserve in this crazy business. I am currently studying Communication Studies at York University in Toronto, and working at a local theatre doing marketing and communications, as well as helping out a local festival called Rock the Coliseum. Indie, alt-rock/pop, and metal are my favourites but I’m open to all music genres! If I’m not at a show, I’m doing yoga, grabbing coffee, or looking for some craft beer.
