Review – Nicole Rayy

Album: Dig
Release Date: October 14, 2016
Genre: Country / Pop

It’s been two years in the making and on October 14, 2016, Canadian country singer / songwriter Nicole Rayy releases her debut full-length CD titled Dig. It was produced in Toronto, at Noble Street Studios by Doug Romanow. Doug is known for his work with Johnny Reid, Chantal Kreviazuk and Justin Bieber. This album features ten tracks including her singles “Bow and Arrow” and “Don’t,” both released to Canadian country radio this year.

The title track “Dig” was just released to Canadian country radio on October 11. “Dig” is about the exploration of a relationship, taking it from the surface level to something deeper by taking chances and believing in what love has to offer. You can’t find “a diamond in a coalmine” if you don’t dig.

From “Done With This Town” to “Never Cry Again” to “Drive Until I Forget You,” this album will stir many emotions within you – joy, sorrow, love and more. You’ll feel the power of healing, the power to take control of your life and the power to love.

Nicole Rayy has this to say about her debut album:

“This album is a reflection of my life over the past few years. I’ve always found it easier to express myself through my music and this new album is like sneaking a page out of my diary. These songs really ‘dig’ into my emotions and say exactly what I wanted to say. I think listeners can see a lot of growth in my songwriter since my first EP back in 2013 and I hope to always continue to improve my craft. The album, Dig, tells the story of many different stages of a relationship, from the beginning stages to the realization that it’s over and moving on is the only choice. I hope the honesty of the lyrics on this album are what people relate to, what touches their lives in some way. That is why I love making music because music brings people together; it’s how we know we are never alone in how we feel.”

This album shows what a powerhouse of a voice Rayy has. It shows her vulnerability as an artist by writing from her heart. It shows her talent as a musician. And what this album is also doing is bringing awareness to Neurofibromatosis.

On October 15, 2016, Nicole Rayy’s CD Release for Dig will be held Cowboys Roadhouse in Winnipeg. 100% of the proceeds from the CD release will go to support the Manitoba Neurofibromatosis Support Group*. Rayy says:

“My manager, Janice Starodub, has a nephew who has NF. I’ve heard several stories from her about the pain he has to endure and the surgeries he will have to face. I knew my CD release party would be a great opportunity to bring people together not only for music but also for a great cause. Neurofibromatosis is a disease that many people don’t know about and I wanted to bring awareness and support to NF.
