Saturday September 17, 2016 was Day 2 of Magna Hoedown. The doors opened at 5:00 PM and by 5:15 PM, The Western Swing Authority was on stage doing what they do best; giving us pure entertainment. This 7-piece band consists of multiple award-winning musicians who have backed the best of the best in the industry, on tour and in the studio. Headed by Shane Guse, the band is aptly named with their classic country-swing sound. It is toe-tapping, gotta-get-up-and-dance kind of music. It was the perfect start to the night.

Next up, the Austrian born artist, now living in Nashville, Jean Nolan. This man has the WOW factor! He has a great stage presence and through-the-roof talent. The ladies couldn’t keep their eyes off him!img_5849

2016 Magna Showdown Winner, Mac Shepherd got to strut his stuff and show us why he was this year’s pick. Great work, Mac!img_5868

I never tire of seeing the lovely Leah Daniels on stage. This 2016 CMAO Female Artist of the Year knows how to connect with her audience. She rocked the stage with her latest single, “Your Kiss Is Killing Me” and a cover of DNCE’s “Cake By The Ocean” to name a few.img_6056

Before the night’s headliner, Paul Brant hit the stage, there was a very important cheque presentation to be made. The 15 local charities and non-profit organizations that the night was all about (see Day 1 Review) received a split of $479,000.00. A fantastic accomplishment from everyone who contributed!img_6122

What better way to follow-up than with Paul Brandt closing out the night. This was not Brandt’s first performance at the Magna Hoedown. He first headlined four years ago and with what he gave the crowd with his show, it’s easy to see why he was welcomed back. Brandt is a Canadian Country Legend! His career has now spanned into its third decade. No Paul Brandt show would be complete with out “Convoy”, “I’m Gonna Fly” and “I Do” and new favourites, “Get A Bed” and “I’m An Open Road”. He continues to stay true to himself and his music, while keeping his sound fresh and current. A true gentleman and fan favourite.img_6424

As a media person, I have to give a special shout out to the Magna Hoedown. This was one of the best events to cover. We got to enjoy the delicious Texas Style BBQ, had a Media Meet & Greet with both headlining artist and were made to feel like we were part of their team to make this the best event ever. Thank you! We can’t wait to be a part of this again next year.
