First Nations electronic DJ trio A Tribe Called Red have released their latest single “Sila,” a collaboration with Polaris Prize winning throat singer Tanya Tagaq. The track is the third single from the trio’s third album We Are the Halluci Nation which is set for release on September 16th. The track is an urgent, powerful number that pairs Tagaq’s artistic throat singing capabilities with A Tribe Called Red’s infectious beats. The result is a stunning musical journey unlike anything else.
Regarding the single, Tagaq and the trio state, “Sila is what you breathe…Sila doesn’t translate to English but can be substituted with ‘air’, ‘atmosphere’ or ‘sky’”.
Check out the single and stay tuned for the release of We Are the Halluci Nation next month!

I’ve been involved in music my whole life and have developed a passion for helping out or working in the industry any way I can. I’m interested in helping talented artists gain the recognition they deserve in this crazy business. I am currently studying Communication Studies at York University in Toronto, and working at a local theatre doing marketing and communications, as well as helping out a local festival called Rock the Coliseum. Indie, alt-rock/pop, and metal are my favourites but I’m open to all music genres! If I’m not at a show, I’m doing yoga, grabbing coffee, or looking for some craft beer.
