George Street Festival officially kicked off on Thursday night with a sold out show featuring Beauwater, The Novaks, The Trews and headlined by Our Lady Peace.
Beauwater got to open the festival after being crowned the winners of the 2nd Annual Rock The Block competition after earning more then 38% of the votes (more then 27,000 votes).
Next up were the Novaks who are gearing up to release a new album on September 17th.
The crowd really starting to come in when The Trews started to play all of their big hits.
Closing off the night was who everyone was waiting for, Our Lady Peace. Playing all of the old favourites, a cover of Lana Del Ray’s Summertime Sadness and even a new song, I’m sure no one left the show disappointed. Raine even finished the show from the roof of the Rock House, across the road from the main stage.

I’m Tara and I’m a graphic designer from Newfoundland. I am very fortunate to live in a city where there is a ton of amazing musicians. I’ve grown very fond of the local music scene in St. John’s and some of my favorite bands are ones I’ve met through going to local shows.
