Songs for a Ladies Man is Eva Schubert’s first full album. This Vancouver B.C. jazz musician recorded 10 jazz tunes, having been influenced by her grandfather’s vinyl collection of jazz greats. This influence can be heard in the short 2:34 minute tune “Voodoo Magic Man” which is very Etta James. Eva’s honey sweet voice is strong though out this album, piano and saxophone accompany Eva along with trumpet.
“Never Touched the Ground” is a light and airy tune and “Bring on the Blues” is a bluesy tune, very Billy Holiday. “Unpredictable” and “Somewhere” are jazz standard tunes. The two tunes “Curtains” and “The Hitch” are up tempo tunes “Curtains” has a tropical sound and “The Hitch” is great tune that will get your toes a-tapping.
Jazz lovers should add this CD to their collection.

I fell in love with live shows when I saw my first concert at 8 years old
and it is love affair that has been going on 42 years.
I started writing for two Canadian music magazines in order to write and photograph the great live music scene that was going on around me. I enjoy Blues, indie- rock, motown and old fashioned rock and roll from the 50s to 70s. I will go to intimate house concerts, local clubs and the way to big arenas to see good live music. When not at a show, I will be at home in my garden listening to my latest acquired album.
