Every year when summer comes around, it’s music festival season. It was no different in Burlington Ontario. They hosted the Sound of Music Festival with an impressive line-up of talent. Canadian Beats covered the appearances of Jim Bryson, Eric Ethridge, Jess Moskaluke, Dylan Menzie, River Town Saints, The Small Glories, Small Town Pistols and Sass Jordan.
The concerts on June 18-19 were free to the public who turned out in large numbers to view the spectacle. And quite the spectacle it was. By Saturday evening the Lake Shore area was packed with people enjoying the music, the various vendors and even the kids got to enjoy various games and ferris wheels. All this on a gorgeously warm summer night.

I shoot live music performances and concerts. I love the excitement of entering a venue, knowing that I’ll be photographing a concert and enjoying the energy of the crowd. There’s nothing like being in a venue and looking at the expressions on the faces of people who are all transfixed by the talent onstage. I shoot about 120 shows each year, averaging 2 bands per show, as well as several all-day and weekend festivals in and around Southern Ontario. From the large venues to very small ones, bright lights or barely lit stages, I hope that my photos capture the enjoyment the artists have in doing what they love to do.
