This past week we’ve been doing a series of interviews counting down to one of the festivals that everyone is waiting for, Cavendish Beach Music Festival. We started on Monday with Jason Benoit, then onto Petric, Jojo Mason and The Road Hammers. Today we have Alberta based country artist, Bobby Wills! Have a look at what he had to say about CBMF and more!
First off, care to introduce yourselves to the Canadian Beats readers?
Hey Canadian Beats! This is Bobby Wills. I hope everyone is enjoying the beginnings of their summer!
Cavendish Beach Music Festival is one of Canada’s strictly Country festivals, and it’s one of the biggest out there, how does it feel to be a part of it?
This festival has been on my wish list for a few years now, so I am super excited to play it this year! Cavendish has an incredible reputation as one of Canada’s best festivals. All the artists I have spoken to about it can’t say enough about how much fun they have had; it is going to be awesome!
Have you taken part in CBMF in the past? If so, what is your favourite memory from previous years? If you haven’t taken part in CBMF in the past, what are you most looking forward to for this year?
There is something very special about playing on the East Coast, and this is the BIG ONE!!!!
You are in a line-up of extremely talented Country artists, who are you most excited to check at the festival?
I have never seen Kenny Chesney live, and I hear his show is one of the best in the business!
Are you performing at any other festivals this summer that you’d like to tell us about?
We will also be playing Big Valley Jamboree, Rockin’ Riverfest, Havelock Jamboree and the very first Calgary – Country Thunder!!
Describe your live show using only 5 words, and GO!
Fun, high energy, musically diverse, and hopefully a sing along!
If you were asked to give a rising country artist some advice, what would that advice be?
The best advice I ever got was to stick with it! It takes time, but you will grow as an artist if you do, and ultimately be ready when your time comes!
What’s up next for you?
A busy summer of touring and then we will begin working on new music!
I’m Jenna, and I am the founder and editor of Canadian Beats. I have had a strong love for Canadian music, which started many years ago. I have a passion for promoting these talented Canadian bands and artists, and that’s how Canadian Beats came to be. I am so proud of what it has become over the last few years, with many talented music lovers and writers coming together to spread the word of Canada’s music.
