Country fans in the maritimes, and throughout Canada recongize the name “Cavendish Beach Music Festival”, as it’s one of Canada’s biggest country music festivals with hugely talented acts performing for a whole weekend. This year, it’s taking place on July 8-10 and you definitely don’t want to miss it, if it’s at all possible for you to attend.
Here at Canadian Beats, we are extremely happy to present you with a series of countdown interviews to the weekend, starting with Newfoundland based country singer/songwriter Jason Benoit. Jason is no stranger to Canadian Beats, and we are always happy to feature this talented country artist, so here goes:
Cavendish Beach Music Festival is one of Canada’s strictly Country festivals, and it’s one of the biggest out there, how does it feel to be a part of it?
It’s unbelievable really! I’ve wanted to perform on the same stage as the biggest country singers in the world for as long as I can remember, and now to finally see my dream becoming reality is truly an amazing moment in my life.
Have you taken part in CBMF in the past? If so, what is your favourite memory from previous years?
Yes, actually! I performed on the Kitchen Party Stage in 2015 and man, what an amazing experience! The tent was packed with people with most of them signing along with my songs. Also, that same year, the CCMA Atlantic Discovery Award winner was announced on the Main Stage and I was very blessed to have been the person to have won that award. It was my first time at CBMF and definitely an experience I won’t soon forget.
You are in a line-up of extremely talented Country artists, who are you most excited to check out at the festival?
WOW! There are so many to choose from! For Canadian Country, I’m stoked to see Cold Creek County Again! They are a LOT of fun.. Also Meghan Patrick is a real fire cracker and as for those from the USA.. Blake Shelton is going to be crazy to see… Also, I’ve been a huge Ricky Skaggs fan for a long time so I’m really looking forward to seeing him live! It’s going to be an amazing weekend!
Are you performing at any other festivals this summer that you’d like to tell us about?
Yeah for sure! Boots & Hearts, Trackside, Manitoulin Country Fest in Ontario; Canaan Country in Halifax; and Eastbound Hoedown in my home province of Newfoundland just to name a few..
Describe your live show using only 5 words, and GO!
Really Not What You Expected ;D
If you were asked to give a rising country artist some advice, what would that advice be?
You are only as strong as the team you build around you. Sure, the Artist is the main attraction but you wouldn’t be standing on that stage without your Record Label, Management, Booking Agent, Band, ect. .. and also, As Tim McGraw would say “ALWAYS be Humble and Kind”.
What’s up next for you?
I’m finishing my first full-length album titled Waves which will be released in the fall! I wrote every song on the album and I’m so excited for everyone to hear them during my summer performances.. Onward and Upward!
