The Country Music Association of Ontario Conference and Awards are just around the corner. May 28th and 29th, is a two-day conference filled with informative panels at the Edward Village Hotel in Markham. Monday May 30th is the awards show, held at the Flato Markham Theatre. This will be the 4th annual event and is sure to be an exciting time.
We have had to the opportunity to connect with several of the artists for a quick one-on-one interview. Here is our chat with Cold Creek County…..
You have had an exciting month already with your win at the CRMA Awards in Toronto and the hustle and bustle that is Canadian Music Week. Now, it’s time for the CMAO Awards in which you are nominated in four categories! How do you feel about these nominations and do you have a particular category that you really want to take home?
We are absolutely blown away to be part of the CMAO’s and to have even one nomination is a true honour, let alone four. I think we would love to take home the Fans Choice Award.
On top of the awards, Doug will be attending and speaking at the CMAO R2I Spring Tune Up Conference, is this the first time you have done this sort of thing? What can you tell us about your topic?
Yes, this is the first time I’ve being invited to the panel with such talent. It’s going to be a lot of fun interacting with everyone and sharing stories about the industry.
The fun doesn’t stop there; Cold Creek County will also be performing at the 2016 CMAO Awards along with many of the other talented Ontario artists, which performance, other than your own, are you most excited to see?
We are all very excited to see all the bands play but off hand, Tim Hicks, we had an awesome tour with him and he always kicks it up a notch and we like that. His show is killer, if you haven’t checked out Tim and the boys, you’re missing out.
If you could go back five years ago and talk to the people you were, what words of encouragement would you give yourselves?
I would have to say, be humble, practice a lot and just have fun!
Ontario has a huge population of talented Country artists; care to suggest an up & coming artist that you think we should all check out?
I actually have an artist that I currently manage and develop. I would love it if everyone went and checked out Alyssa Morrissey. She rocks!
The Summer concert season is heating up. What’s up next for you after the excitement of the CMAO’s?
We are gearing up for the summer festival season, making some trips to Nashville and rounding out our live show. We have started working on songs for the next record.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
To our fans: We love you all and can’t thank you enough for all the continued support. It’s truly been an amazing ride for us so far. For bands to last, we need fans! You are the key to helping us do what we love most, perform!
Hello everyone! My name is Linda and I have been a fan of Canadian Music for as long as I can remember. That counts for way too many decades than I want to admit to! I have three primary passions in my life, music, photography and writing. When I can combine them all, I feel I am right where I should be. Though I can appreciate all genres of music, my particular favourite is Country. Canadian Country is moving in leaps and bounds. I love how it is progressing and I’m thankful that I can be a small part of it.
