Twenty-two years in and NXNE just keeps getting bigger and better

Beginning as a 3 day festival featuring mostly local, unsigned talent Toronto’s NXNE has, over its 22 years, grown from its humble roots to become a cornerstone of the Canadian festival circuit. The 2016 edition of the SXSW’s Northern cousin is scheduled to take place over the week of June 13 – 19 and will feature a mix of artist showcases, visual arts installations, movie screenings, technology, panels and so much more.

Though most of the Club Land showcases are 19+ due to the venues there are plenty of free, all ages events taking place throughout the week particularly at the popular Yonge and Dundas Square.  New in 2016 is the addition of the Port Lands venue, a lakeside location in Toronto’s east side. The addition is already causing a stir with the release of the weekend lineup. Saturday alone features Father John Misty along with Mother, Mother, Dan Mangan, Born Ruffians, The Zolas and the Devin Cuddy Band with special guess Jim Cuddy (of Blue Rodeo fame).

With hundreds of artists and venues involved in the event you’re going to want to do some advance planning to make sure you don’t miss anything. Head over to www.nxne.com for full lineup details and to purchase passes.
