Review – Runaway Angel

Album: No End In Sight
Release Date: April 22, 2016
Genre: Country

No End In Sight is the perfect name for this debut CD from Runaway Angel. When it comes to their successes and achievements over the past few years, their star is shining bright and rising quickly. There is “no end in sight” for where this trio could go.

Runaway Angel is Cadence Grace, Stacey Zegers and Ann Chaplin. All three ladies had their own solo careers before merging their talents. And, talent is what they have! – Musicians, songwriters and harmonizing vocals that give them a unique and refreshing sound.

The album consists of 10 songs, 9 of which Runaway Angel share writing credits with some of the biggest names in Nashville – Bruce Wallace, Patricia Conroy, Danick Dupelle (Emerson Drive), Dave Thomson (Wave), Phil Barton and Beau Fuller. It has production credits to Jason Barry (Dean Brody, Terri Clark), Adam Newcomb and Carol Khaouli.

At first listen, the intro track, “Run Angel Run” sets the tone for your listening journey that will have you sharing the up-beat emotion of every note. “Tumbleweed” continues this feeling. “If You Only Knew” is a love ballad that takes a moment to slow down the pace and take in those lilting harmonies. “My Someday” picks up the pace again, with a message of living in the moment and making your someday today! “Do What I Want” is a take charge love song. “June”, the only song that wasn’t co-written by Runaway Angel and the current single, is about the struggle to heal after a break up. “Around The Bend”, a ballad, sends the message of persevering to move forward because you never know what is ahead of you. Again, the harmonies are stunning. “Heart To Break” is a cheating song with a punch. Don’t mess with these ladies! “Easy” makes you see that sometimes it is easier to walk away than the struggle to stay in a bad relationship. The CD wraps up with “Our Story”, a positive, sweet love song that makes everything right.

“Someday” has earned 2016 CMAO nominations for Single of the Year, Video of the Year and Songwriters of the Year. Runaway Angel is up for Group or Duo of the Year. The CMAO Awards take place in May. They have also been named finalists for the CCMA Discovery Program – an initiative designed to educate and support the development of Canadian country music artists.
