CBC Music’s Searchlight contest is back

The 2016 search for Canada’s best new artist is back with CBC Music’s Searchlight contest. Though this year does bring some changes, musicians of all types and genres are asked to submit their music to cbcmusic.ca/searchlight before Wednesday, March 23. This year applicants must submit a video of themselves performing one original song, along with one high-quality MP3.

The biggest change this year is that CBC-TV will be broadcasting the top four finalist competing in front of three celebrity judges. There will also be a chance for entrants to heard by an industry judging panel that include journalists, label representatives, managers and more.

The winner of Searchlight will take home $20,000 towards music equipment from Yamaha Canada, a performance opportunity on CBC Radio One’s q, a performance slot on the CBC Music Festival (featuring Hey Rosetta!, Tanya Tagaq, Whitehourse and more) and a Canadian Music Magazine Career Booster package valued at $25,000.
