Interview – Teagan Littlechief

Teagan Littlechief is a Saskatchewan based singer that has recently released her new single “Hell Bent, Heaven Bound” to radio in late January. Canadian Beats was fortunate enough to chat with Teagan about her new single and future plans.

Tell us a little bit about yourself, what made you decide to pursue music as a career?

In pre-k  my teacher heard me singing “Part of your World” by the Little Mermaid and suggested to my mom that I take music lessons. My mother/#1 fan and all my fans, family , and friends are a very big inspiration as to why I pursued my career in music and why I still do…it helps as well that I’m a little good at what I do. (chuckles)

What does your writing process look like, where do you get your inspiration from?

My inspiration comes a lot from life experience. I don’t know how.many notebooks I have lying around my house or car. I think I may have a few at work as well. When I have ideas I usually need somewhere to jot em down.

Along with being busy pursuing music, you are also raising a young son. How do you balance both?

(chuckles) It’s all in routine for me. “The boy” is how I refer to my lil guy, he and I have a lot in common so it makes it easy to do things. He’s a skater and in drumming lessons, he also loves singing so that’s a bonus for me. When I sing on stage he sits in the front and cheers me on, when I’m done singing he yells at the top of his lungs “THAT’S MY MOMMY”

You just released “Hell Bent, Heaven Bound”, what do you hope listeners will take away from this single?

There is a new Teagan  Littlechief on the rise and I hope they become addicted to my sound and want more and more

Where do you hope your musical journey will be in 5 years time?

I am hoping that I’m closer to achieving the goal I set out for myself in the beginning of this awesome journey

Here at Canadian Beats we like to include a just for fun portion, to help our readers get to know you better, ready?

What are the 5 most played songs on your personal playlist?

Cowboy Casanova by Carrie Underwood
Dream Big by Katrina Elam
That’s My Man by Katrina Elam
Where the Devil Don’t Go by  Elle King
Walkashame by Meghan Trainor

If you could play a show with anyone, anywhere, who would you be playing with and where?

Oh that’s a tough a question as there are many artists that I would love to have the opportunity to share the stage with. I think the main artist that stands out the most would have to be Gretchen Wilson. Her enthusiasm as a performer and writer has given me the extra motivation I needed to sing the songs I sing

What do you like to do when you aren’t playing music?

I like to take my son skating. Travel. Watch movies, Work. I LOVE to golf.

Music is obviously a talent of yours, do you have any other talents, perhaps something that would surprise us?

I wish I had another talent (chuckling) but I am not too bad the drums, for a beginner. I am also a good golfer  , which I get from my mother who is  great golfer.

And last but not least, do you have anything you would like to say to your fans?

Thank you to everyone that continues to show their support and someday someway I will be where I want to be., thanks to my fans!

If you’re going to dream…..DREAM BIG!
