Show Review – Corinda Chandler

Corinda Chandler is a local Adult Contemporary artist who has been working the scene for years now. Corinda spends her time perfecting her art and playing the most best kept secret, and intimate venues around the city, earning her quite the respectable reputation with many other local musicians and music lovers alike. January 2nd marked her first show of 2016. She is fresh off the heels of releasing her second album entitled “This Unexpected Love”. This album is a collection of her sultry and creative take on old classics from The Rolling Stones “Wild Horses” to Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon”.

Cafe Koi is a laid back, romantic venue that is known for its support of independent artists. As Corinda and her musical partner Mike unloaded and set up, it was easy to see that Cafe Koi might be a little too low key for this particular showcase. The place was already fully booked and turning people away an hour before she was set to start. Even many other local musicians had come out to show their support for Corinda’s newest artistic venture.

The set included Mike playing several guitars and harmonicas, while Corinda simply sat and let her voice fill the room from top to bottom. They played many of the covers off of “This Unexpected Love” and even some brand new original material. Watching these two play you would assume they have been sharing the stage for quite some time, not the case. In fact, this was one of the first times they have officially played a show together. “This Unexpected Love” is the result of Mike and Corinda’s creative and talented minds coming together, and it seems to be working quite beautifully for them. The audience listened to every note and every chord intently, thoroughly enjoying every minute of the night.

Corinda plans to be relentlessly playing shows around the city in the coming months, and is already talking about a third release that will include some original music. To give “This Unexpected Love” a listen click here!
