Show Review – One Bad Son After Party

By: Nicole Wolfe

When: November 21, 2015
Venue: Roxy Side Room
Where: Barrie, Ontario

The party continued long after the final chords of Psycho Killer vanished into the air at the One Bad Son Concert at the Roxy Theatre.  Read the full review of this show and view photos from the evening here.  To keep the high energy going, fans were ushered into the Roxy’s sister venue, The Side Room, for three more hard rocking local bands, in an after party put on by 53rd & 3rd Shows.

Toronto’s Return for Refund and Newcastle’s The Corporate Life entertained fans with contagious tunes ranging from riff-driven hard rock melodies from Return for Refund to hard core punk jams from The Corporate Life.

Barrie’s own, From the Ruins, returned to the Roxy Side Room once again to perform a full set of their own blend of grungy rock songs.  The vocal harmonies of the two guitarists, Julien Michaud and Adam Skinner match effortlessly, pairing Michaud’s raspy vox with that of Skinner’s smooth vox.  Their sound is undeniably tight, with the help of the rhythm section comprised of Brad Barnett on bass and Bryan Lake on drums.  From the Ruins has been performing frequently since their debut performance at ROCK-A-PALOOZA 2 in August and will no doubt be joining the rank of being a supporting act for larger bands in the future.  Keep an eye out for these guys!  If you are in the Barrie area, be sure to catch them in action at the Beach Bar & Grill in Innisfil on Saturday, December 12th.
