I’m very excited about reviewing the latest album from funk quartet After Funk. ‘Til The Sun Comes Up is the group’s sophomore album, and it made me want to get up and out to one of After Funk’s live shows as soon as humanly possible.
It’s so refreshing to hear a band that encompasses this funky sound. It seems as if they stepped out of San Francisco during the counterculture of the 60’s alongside Sly and the Family Stone. The blending of different sounds creates so many different layers, providing something for everyone to enjoy.
‘Til The Sun Comes Up is available on After Funk’s website for free! Download the new album before putting on your dancing shoes and grooving your way to the Mod Club on Tuesday, Dec. 22 to see After Funk perform alongside Birds of Bellwoods, Ivory Hours and The Pick Brothers.
My name is Katt and I am a born and raised Torontonian who loves everything about music. I am a rock n’ roll fanatic, with a particular passion for psychedelic and anything fem-powered. I am currently finishing up my postgraduate certificate in public relations at Humber College and hope to continue to work in the music industry- helping budding musicians make their dreams come true. I love a cold beer on a hot patio, all-dressed chips and cats. I also love road trips and secretly wish I were a trucker.
