Tomorrow marks the first day of Country Music Week in Halifax, NS which of course ends with the CCMA Awards on Sunday, September 13. We have been counting down to the big day with a series of Q&A’s with some of the nominees, such as Tim Hicks & Madeline Merlo.
Today, the countdown continues with La Crete, AB based country duo, High Valley. The duo is nominated for a few awards, such as Album Of The Year & Group or Duo Of The Year, and will also be performing at the show!
As a Canadian country musician, being nominated for a CCMA is a huge accomplishment, how did you feel when you found out that you were nominated?
Being nominated is really quite flattering! It’s crazy to think that we are a part of the award show we grew up watching back on the farm!
If you were asked to give a rising Canadian country star some advice, what would that advice be?
Find what is unique about yourself and exploit the living daylight out of that quality! That may be humor or harmony. Whatever it is, use it!
Canada has a hugely talented Country music scene; can you suggest an up & coming artist that you think we should all be on the lookout for?
Dean Brody 😉 just kidding. Jason Benoit is a super talented new artist! Defiantly check him out!
One thing that is a major marketing innovation these days is social media, making it possible for artists to connect with their fans by a simple touch of the keyboard. Do you feel this is a vital tool that all artists should partake in?
YES!!!! It’s very important and so convenient! The internet makes the world smaller and enable you to reach anyone at any time with your music!
There are so many great performers taking the stage at the CCMA awards in Halifax, NS, which are you most looking forward to?
Pretty excited to see Thomas Rhett!
What’s up next for you?
We have got a Christmas tour coming up! Details will be on our website soon!
Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
Thanks for supporting our music and helping us get nominated for multiple awards!
