New Brunswick based folk trio, Earthbound Trio is made up of Dwayne Doucette (Guitar/Vocals), Bob Fitzgerald (Upright Bass), and Mike Humble (Drums/ Percussion). The trio is about to release their first full length album, “Ditch Flowers” on September 9th and we were lucky enough to give it a listen before release. The band will have their release show at the Harvest Jazz and Blues fest in Fredericton, NB on September 18th so if you’re in the area, don’t miss that!
The album had me hooked from the beginning with “Let It Go” and “Harbour Town”. I had previously saw an acoustic video of Harbour Town, and fell in love immediately. As Dwayne says on the video, “ It’s a song written about Saint John NB and some of the old theatres that have been torn down in the last couple of years.”
Another that stood out to me was the ninth song, “Miner’s Song”, which features haunting vocals and a soft music that gives me the chills every time I hear it. You can tell the trio puts much work into writing the lyrics and music for their songs.
There isn’t one song that I didn’t enjoy on this album, and I highly recommend you keep an eye out for it on September 9th.
