BC based guitarist/vocalist, David Gogo is about to release his 14th release, “Vicksburg Call”. David has earned five JUNO nominations and multiple Maple Blues Awards. The experience shows in the album, which features 10 full length tracks.

The album starts with a bang with “Cuts Me To The Bone”, which is extremely high energy and the perfect way to start off an album. “Fooling Myself” is one of my favourites on the album, and I have to admit, I listened to this track over and over.

The upbeat, high energy songs continue through the whole album, the sixth song, “What’s Not to Like” was another that I was instantly hooked on. I can picture that these songs would be amazing live, so if you have a chance to see him at any of his upcoming tour dates, don’t hesitate.

The title track, “Vicksburg Call” is the eighth track, and it gives off a bit of different feel than the others, it almost has a country feel to it, and the mixture of genres intrigued me.

All in all, this album is full of great songs, that show off David’s many talents and also showcases his experience at writing and performing said songs.

Rating: 4/5
