In 2012, Sadye Cage joined Ty Vega, and the their musical talents resulted in the five-piece folk-infused alternative band, SC Mira. On June 9, 2015, Winnipeg’s own is releasing their debut album “Waiting Room Baby” through Pipe & Hat/MapleMusic Recordings.

The band’s focus is definitely around Cage’s vocals. She has a unique sound with powerful and sensitive lyrics. “Waiting Room Baby” tells a story. With six songs the album is short and sweet, leaving you wanting more.

My favourite song off “Waiting Room Baby” is the opening tune “Move Fast”. It speaks to the freedom but also restrictions time can hold over us. It’s an intriguing number that sets the stage for the rest of the album.

Another great track is “Motel Honey” featuring Buck 65, who you may also know as Rich Terfry from CBC Radio 2. This is an extremely catchy tune you may catch yourself humming later.

“Waiting Room Baby” is a great album to start the summer off right. I am excited to see where SC Mira will go in their inevitably prosperous future.

It is obvious that the group would deliver a fantastic live performance. If you are lucky enough to find yourself in Winnipeg on June 11, 2015, you should find your way to the West End Cultural Centre to check out SC Mira’s album release!
