JBKD are a pop duo from Ottawa, Ontario who started making music in early 2013. With influences ranging from Norwgian death-metal to Canadian acts like Tegan and Sara, the group release their EP SEXPOPSUMMERLOVE on January 1, 2015.

While I’m not the biggest fan of pop music, I can’t deny that the songs that get stuck in my head the most are in that genre. On my first listen through I was pretty impressed with the songs on the album. On my second play through I started paying more attention to the lyrics and realized they aren’t you’re typical pop lyrics. There are definitely some mature themes throughout this album so if you’re uncomfortable with songs about sex I wouldn’t suggest this EP for you. If you can get past that and like a bit of pop music in your life, check out this EP. The standout song on this EP for me is definitely Carousel. I expect this song to go into regular rotation in my daily playlist.
